Finials

The finial is an architectural device, typically carved in stone and employed to decoratively emphasize any of various distinctive ornaments at the top, end, or corner of a building or structure. Stone finials are small, ornamental, terminal feature at the top of a gable, lamp, lamppost, stone wall etc. Garden finials made of sandstone are actually sculptured ornaments, often in the shape of leaves or flowers, at the top of a gable, pinnacle, or similar structure. They can be custom made to suit varied specifications and have hence been very popular items of ornamentation.

The finials made of sandstone may be replications of original designs or may simply be plain decorative types that are particularly suitable for porticos or pavilions. Some of the stone finials can also be designed in a manner that they can be used as fountains. Sandstone finials are generally artistically ornamented with intricate designs.
